Not a bad little catch phrase. I take it to mean that science is a tool for gaining a certain sort of knowledge (a very important sort), but that it is no more. Without some sort of moral purpose (ie. Faith of some sort), we put science to selfish, pointless, or destructive ends. But, science, which in this case seems like a stand-in for critical rationality in general, must be there to temper faith (especially religious), lest our means towards faith's ends prove counterproductive. In short, faith gives purpose to reason(science), and reason tests faith to keep it from being blind to its consequences.
